Playground YES, Another Parking Lot NO!
The Clendenin Town Council held a meeting on Monday, March 10th in which Kathy Slack, Jessica Wright, Dr. Anne Berry & Dr. George Stablein attended. Our one focus of attending was to let the town council know that the old Dentist Butterworth land should be used as a new playground for the children of Clendenin and NOT another parking lot. We all brought up very valid points and without boring all of you reading this the outcome was this:
1- Yes the FEMA land has now be deeded to the town of Clendenin.
2- It will be up to the town council to determine what to do with the land.
3- They made it sound like the only option they had was a parking lot, that only at one time was it mention as a playground.
4- The 4 guests who spoke let them know that we do think a playground in the area will benefit the children of Clendenin.
5- We were invited back to the next council meeting on March 24th to find out IF that FEMA land can indeed become a playground area.
See the "Photo Gallery" on this site of location pictures.
So, in the meantime and span of 2 weeks, Kathy Slack has started a petition to bring to the next town council meeting to let the town council see that it is NOT just 4 folks in Clendenin that think a playground will be worth the effort!!
The petitions are located at the Clendenin Health Center and Giovanni's Pizza in Clendenin. Or if you wish, you may fill out the online petition here: http://t.co/neAMN7k8sI (It is a bitty link since the original is very, very long)
